Celebration of the Oyster 11/30/2011
The Clay College in Millville is currently showing an exhibit called "Celebration of the Oyster." My oyster plate is shown on display here. The centerpiece of the show is a collection of antique oyster plates, but there are several outstanding and creative representations of the oyster plate by local artisans as well. My plate is a stylized version of oyster shells and pearls. I was pretty pleased with how it turned out. I fully expected the glazing process to be a disappointment, but I was pleased to see that the colors remained separate since this was my first attempt using masking techniques. It's not perfect, but I like it.
