Three Bowls and a Pitcher 01/15/2012

I'm finding out that it's not so easy for me to post regularly.  This is my first post of the new year and it's already the middle of January.  Seems like I need to make a resolution or something. . .

I have been making raggedy bowls for a while now.  I really like the fact that they are built from slabs of clay and have a rough, unfinished appearance.  The edges are usually left a bit ragged.  I smooth the edges with a finger or cut off errant pieces of clay that detract from what I'm trying to accomplish.  Three of my latest bowls are pictured here. The last photo is of a pitcher that I like for the surface decoration.

I impressed lace on the clay to give the exterior some additional interest.

This raggedy bowl has thicker walls than the others.

This pitcher was thrown on a wheel and marked with a lemon zester.
