Vaughn and I just visited the Philadelphia Museum of Art to see the Outsider Art exhibit which was quite nice. We also checked out the exhibit of Korean ceramics upstairs. It's kind of intimidating to think about how long a piece of ceramic ware can survive. I particularly liked this piece of 15th century glazed stoneware with stamped and white slip decoration from the Joseon dynasty. This small dish shows the stamping technique used in buncheong ware decoration. A design is impressed into the clay body and dipped into white slip. Then the slip is wiped from the undecorated areas.
